Colville And Beyond has a number of stunning walkways.This map (a larger version of the map on the left) shows you where the walkways are located. Currently the Trails Group are conducting a survey to discover  what walkways our visitors like, and to explore what walkways can be developed.

There are many beautiful beaches to stroll. The yellow on the map indicates the sandy beaches.
If you are looking to be picked up and dropped off at each side of the Coromandel Walkway see the two transport providers on the Taxi & Local Tours page. Colville Guiding provides guided bush tours

Colville Foreshore 

This gentle walk is excellent for exploring the vibrant muddy-shore environment and the shore birds that live here. The foreshore is also a great place for a picnic.
(Please note: our foreshore has endangered birds, please be aware if you are walking with a dog.)

Located North of Colville Village 2 mins drive or 20 mins walk.

Difficulty: Easy
Duration: 7 hours return

Coromandel Walkway

This walk weaves through native bush and along the coast with stunning views looking out to the Pacific Ocean. Often Kaka birds will be heard or seen on this walk.

Fantail Bay Track 

This tramping track leaves from the Fantail Bay campsite and leads to the bushline where you will find outstanding
views.

Duration: 6 hours return, 6.5 km loop

Matamata Harakeke
The track is part of the original Waikawau to Kennedy Bay route used by gold miners and loggers. It goes up the main ridge past a series of lookouts giving views over bush covered hills to coast and islands.

Begin at the back of the Pump paddock at Waikawau Campsite, crossing over a stile next to the Matamataharakeke Stream.

Muriwai walk 

Located beyond Port Jackson campsite, this stunning coastal walkway leaves the Muriwai Hilltop car park and heads along a benched farm track along the ridge towards Wharekaiatua Pa.

You will see views to Great Barrier and across the Hauraki Gulf (Tikapa Moana).

Tuateawa Nikau Grove Walk

This lovely walk is approximately 800m down to the sea and offers superb rugged, unspoilt scenery from pohukawa and nikau forest to amazing views over the sea.

The track starts approximately 300m past Puriri Place, on your right. The carpark is located at Waihirere Rd.

Difficulty: Easy
Duration: 20 mins

Papa Aroha

This short walk meanders through coastal forest of pūriri, kohekohe and pōhutukawa
and provides access to an attractive beach.

One minute north of Papa Aroha Holiday Camp, on the left.
